So we finally took Colton to the snow! actually today was the second time we took him. We went last week and THAT was his first time at the snow. We stayed local and went to Frazier Park to Mt. Pinos. A week ago the snow was soft and two feet deep! We trudged through the snow and sank to our knees while little Colton barely sank which was no fun trying to chase after him when would run off. He loved it so much we made sure to go again this week and bring a sled. The snow had definitely melted quite a lot in a week but there was still plenty for sledding. Last week we brought the video camera and I’m going to post some video becuase he’s just so stinking cute, but today I had my camera and here’s some fun pics from our day.
He loved getting pulled by the sled. We would tell him -lay on your tummy- and he would COOPERATE without whining! So we know he loved it!
Just look at that bottom lip! He trudged through the snow without complaining (at least until he had enough and it was time for lunch) I call this image “determination”.
And how about those gorgeous eyes? That’s my baby.

And here’s a rare photo of me
. We took a break and Jesse took over the camera. After that, I was tired of carrying my big ol’ camera and I didn’t shoot any more! But me and Colton slid down the trail together after lunch and had a blast.
And how could I forget to mention the great workout it took to get to the trail. We trudged uphill in the snow while I towed Colton on the sled (almost 30 pounds uphill) for about a half a mile uphill. And did I mention it was uphill? It was a great workout to burn off all the junk food I packed for lunch
My butt feels great!
Here his is! He’s all boy and very two! It was really hard to get a picture of him today but he finally looked at the camera before we all gave up to go back inside since is was pretty cold today. He’s such a cute little man!

This Eyebrow is all Jesse!
So my son has had his hair cut maybe three times in his tiny little almost 2 year old life. But we’ve always just done it ourselves and he absolutely hates it. So I finally decided to take him to a professional who knows how to work with kids. I totally love this place Okie Dokie Salon in Woodland Hills.
#1 I was able to make the appointment online which is convenient for me.
#2 Mary was totally sweet and patient with Colton.
She first sat down with him letting him play with toys and getting him comfortable. When she thought he was comfortable she sat him in the booster with a basket of toys to keep him occupied. She first tried to run the buzzer and let him touch it to see if he was comfortable with it. She could tell he was nervous with the buzzer so she did the whole thing with scissors. I totally thought it would be difficult to do his constantly moving head with scissors but she did a Great job!
I couldn’t believe he sat still for that long! Towards the end he had enough and said “want chu mom”. So Mary took him out of the chair and just let him play at the toy table. Then she patiently finished up the hair cut no problem!
I was in total aww and just love this place!
It’s way too hard to pick my favorites but here are a few from this afternoon. We had a day off so we planned a shoot just for fun! My son Colton and his “girlfriend” Akane had fun looking for dinosarus and Buz Lightyear (hehe – got to keep them guessing when they’re getting they’re pictures taken!) at the Woodley Park wildlife reserve (by wildlife I mean birds and um… ducks..). These two are practically brother and sister and certainly act like it! They are both going on 23 months (they were born three days apart)
I picked out matching outfits for them and wanted to go with a vintagy feel. I just LOVE the trees and the light at this location. It’s as close to fall as we Californian’s get.
My son gets in these moods where when he’s tired he wants to hold onto a toy or something and won’t let go until he falls asleep. We were leaving for a trip and he was ready for his nap but I was holding off until we could get in the car and he can fall asleep in his car seat. He held onto a can of beans from the cupboard and wouldn’t let go. So we strapped him in his car seat with his can of beans!!
So I finally did it. I got a blog. I have to credit Kimberly Aihara of Aihara Visuals for urging me to do it. She’s a very successful wedding photographer in Maui and a wiz at blogging. So in my little corner of the world I will share pieces of me in my personal and professional life … and probably quite a lot of my son too
